Pre-School & Nursery
Our Pre-School which is made up of the Crèche, Reception class (playgroup), and Kindergarten are fully Montessori. The Nursery section follows a blend of Montessori and the British Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS).
All activities are child-centred. The children have the freedom to explore and discover for themselves through the visual, audio and physical senses. Classrooms are well structured for practical exercises and learning is fun working with so many materials.
Creche and Pre-School
(3 months - 3 years)
Pre-School is very important. We strive to provide the best foundation for all Basil children to:
- Successfully start school with confidence
- Develop the foundations for lifelong learning by developing skills and abilities, in this ‘sensitive’ period, which give children the ability to learn effectively.
- Familiarise children with the school environment and associated routines, tasks, rules and expectations within that environment.
Whilst in our care, the children are stimulated with engaging activities as they learn through exploration and play.
Nursery School
(3 – 5 years)

Early Years Foundation Stage
The children attain their full potential through our curriculum which is a blend of Montessori and EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) British curriculum. We focus on the following curriculum areas to achieve the desired learning outcomes: –
- Language development
- Physical development
- Personal, social, and emotional development
- Literacy
- Cognitive thinking, memory skills and numeracy (Mathematics)
- Knowledge and understanding of the world (Science and Technology)
- Creative Arts and Music
Montessori Curriculum Activities
Our children also follow the Montessori Curriculum activities – Practical life and Sensorial exercises, Numeracy and Literacy and Cultural activities.
We have experienced and qualified staff including Montessori Directresses who are well trained to deliver our learning objectives and goals by observation and interaction. Our staff care for the children in a warm, welcoming and safe environment, in which there are separate areas for rest and play.
